You may know the saying ‘the eyes are the windows to the soul’. This is very true. Looking into a persons eyes, you can often tell how they are feeling – if they are angry, ill, lying, or in love. The eyes will lack their usual lustre or appear dull when someone is tired or not feeling well. Not only are the eyes the windows of the soul, they are also a map to our health. Over many years, Iridologists have studied segments of the iris and how they correspond with various internal organs and their ailments. The iris shows various marks, signs and discolouration which reveal the bodies weaknesses and strengths. Iridology cannot detect a specific disease, however it can tell an individual the specific areas of the body which require attention. For example, digestive upsets like heartburn, stomach pain, acid reflux, wind and bloating, constipation or diarrhoea can be observed in the eye, the underlying cause identified and an appropriate treatment method recommended.
“Nerve fibres in the iris respond to changes in the body tissues by manifesting a reflex physiology that corresponds to specific tissue changes and locations.” –Bernard Jensen, a renowned Practitioner, describes Iridology.
History of Iridology
The founder of Iridology was Dr Ignatz von Peczely of Hungary. As a child, Ignatz had found an owl with a broken leg. Upon looking in the eyes of the owl, he noticed that there was a black line in one eye. When the leg had healed, he discovered the black line had been replaced with a white mark. This led to a distinct interest in the markings of the iris, and in the early 1800’s, he went on to develop the first map of the iris.
What can I expect from a consultation?
Iridology is generally safe, non-invasive and painfree. It is a diagnostic tool which detects underlying signs of developing disease and the general health of bodily function. Iridology is used to recognise health problems at their earliest stages and to suggest ways to keep disease from developing. Our Practitioners generally use equipment such as a slit-lamp microscope to examine a patient’s iris for tissue changes, marks, signs or discoloration. This information demonstrates a patients susceptibility towards certain illnesses, reflects past medical problems and predicts later health problems. The iris can be divided into several ‘zones’ with relate to different parts of the body. The right eye reflects the right side of the body, and the left eye reflects the left side. The top of the eye corresponds to the upper body (face, neck, heart), the centre to the digestive organs and the bottom of the eyes to the lower half (hips, legs, feet).
As most diagnostic techniques (such as xrays and blood tests) can be painful, invasive and may be ‘risky’, more and more patients are searching for an alternative method to treat their health problems. Iridology is completely safe, painless, non-invasive, and a very reliable way of accurately gathering the information required to determine an individual’s health status.
